who we are

Pursuing a Lifelong Passion

Vero is the evolution of Tony’s lifelong passion for building, and appreciation for the beauty of historic homes. The art and craft of door making that incorporates energy efficiency is of particular interest.

Vero means “true” In Italian. The concept of something being “true” is a measure of excellence in carpentry. Tony’s ancestry is Italian. His experience of the historic craftsmanship in the door to his grandfather’s home in Italy made a lasting impression on him.

After graduating from Western University with a degree in Science he made his living in the corporate business world. During that time, he decided to build a wooden sailing canoe, which became a “soul-craft” experience. This reignited his determination to pursue his true passion for building.

He received his formal training in the renowned Heritage Carpentry and Joinery Program at Algonquin’s Perth Campus where traditional and modern methods in door-making, reproductions and restoration led him to launch Vero Heritage Carpentry.
